Time feels like it goes by faster with each year that passes by. This is further accelerated once becoming a parent.
Sutton turned two on Monday. Two! Where does the time go?
Last Saturday we celebrated him with a farm-themed birthday. Sutton has loved ‘eieio’ (Old Macdonald Had a Farm) for a while now. So nothing seemed more fitting than a farm party.

Last year we had a ‘Wild One’ themed birthday which ended up being on the same day as the Rugby World Cup final. I will forever remember it. Not only was it Sutton’s first birthday party, but we won the Rugby World Cup too! The party was big and fun yet stressful. This year, I wanted to keep it small and intimate. So we invited our close friends and family to celebrate with us.
A petting zoo visited our school last term. I chatted to the owner, and after confirming that they cater to birthday parties, we decided that we would have a petting zoo visit for his birthday.

The petting zoo visited for an hour while six little kiddies cuddled some different creatures. We had an alpaca, tortoise, bunnies, chickens, guinea pigs and a rat visit us. I even held a rat which I never thought I would do—anything to see that smile on Sutton’s face.

After the excitement of the animals, we cut the cake (a naked rainbow cake from The Velvet Cake Company), and the kids just had the best time running around and enjoying the jungle gym and trampoline on offer. The highlight of the morning was when Damian dismantled the balloon decorations and gave each child their own balloon tied around their wrists. That’s the thing about kids, the simpler, the better.

Sutton had the most delightful day celebrating his two years of life. And I took absolute delight in celebrating him.
