I want to start this blog by wishing all you mama’s, mamas-to-be, grandmama’s and hopeful to-be mama’s a Happy Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day is about celebrating the person who raised you, loved you when you couldn’t love yourself and gave you hope. Mother’s can’t always be defined by genetics or gender. So whether you are a grandparent raising your grandchildren, a family friend, a single parent, whatever, I salute you. Happy Mother’s Day.

When Damian and I found out that we were expecting, we did not go out and buy everything all at once. We took the time to research our options and looked for pieces of furniture/baby items that were versatile and long-lasting.
This week I’ll be showcasing our nappy bag. We purchased our nappy bag from Jean Kelly (https://jeankelly.co.za/). I wanted a lighter shade/tanned leather nappy bag for many reasons. The first reason was for longevity. We have had our nappy bag for over eighteen months, and these photos were captured today. Our bag is still in pristine condition. It has been lugged across the country many times with multiple spills inside and all over the bag – yoghurt, formulae, puree you name it, it has been spilt on this bag. It has been effortless to keep clean and neat.

From an aesthetic point of view, the colour of the bag goes with anything you are wearing. It was also a bag that has a ‘gender-neutral’ quality - if we have another baby and it is a girl, the bag would work for both a boy (Sutton) and a potential girl. We didn’t want to purchase too many blue items when having Sutton, as we wanted to be able to use these items for potentially more than one baby.

I wanted to purchase a nappy bag that I could use afterwards as, e.g. a laptop bag. This nappy bag could become my handbag/laptop bag all in one once we no longer need it for Sutton. Anyone that knows me knows that I always have a large handbag to fit my laptop in (its easier to carry one large bag than two separate bags). So I could easily use this bag as my new handbag.

I wanted to invest in a quality bag that would give me and my family longevity. Baby items are incredibly expensive, and that is why I believe that we should try to get more than one use from them. Next week I will be sharing a piece of furniture that we purchased for Sutton which will hopefully last us a little longer too.
Have a wonderful week. xxx
