I am by no means a nutritionist or someone who looks into the health benefits - or lack thereof - of everything I eat or drink. My personal belief is everything in moderation.

Damian and I have made and enjoyed ginger and lemon shots every day since the start of lockdown. Last week, we decided to try something new, which resulted in the most delicious shots.

Below, find our easy to make recipe. We don’t have a juicer, but simply use the baby food processor which we haven’t used since making purée for Sutton. This just shows how you can use whatever you have on hand.

Ingredients

2 x green apples

2 x lemons

1 x ginger root

1 Tbls honey

2 tsp Cayenne pepper

3 x carrots

150mls water

Peel your apples, ginger and carrots. Remove your apple cores. Cube the apples, ginger and carrots and blend them all together with the water. Pass this through a sieve (along with the juice from your lemons) and press as much liquid out of the pulp as possible. You can add your honey and cayenne pepper at any stage during this process. Refrigerate and voila - delicious shot waiting for you. Add more cayenne pepper as necessary afterwards.

This makes about 500mls which usually lasts us about one week—a reminder to give the juice a good shake before pouring into the shot glass.
